Volume 9 – Výsadba ovocných stromků podél cyklostezky
V pátek 24.10. jsme se již po 9. potkali s dobrovolníky ze spol. Pure Storage v Ohrobci. Vrátili jsme se na místo, kde jsme spolu sázeli před 3lety (70 ovocných stromků) a pokračovali ve výsadbě ovocných stromků podél cyklostezky do Dolních Břežan. Sešlo se 28 dobrovolníků a čekalo na nás 44 ovocných stromků (staré odrůdy jabloní a slivoní). Po úvodním zahájení a poděkování od ohrobeckého starosty, jsme se dali do díla.
Byla zima, foukalo, chvílemi pršelo a jediný, kdo s počasím neměl problém a užíval si to, byl náš čtyřnohý pomocník Balu. Všichni ostatní, bičovaní větrem, deštěm, to chtěli mít co nejdříve za sebou a přesunout se do místní hospůdky. Skončili jsme o více než hodinu dříve oproti plánu a utíkali do malebné, ohrobecké hospůdky „U Trojánků“ se zahřát a pochutnat si na výborném hamburgeru a nezávazném hovoru.
Celkem jsme již společně s Pure Storage vysázeli 454 stromů a 35 keřů. Dnešní výsadbou se povedlo opět vrátit stromy do míst, kam odjakživa patřily a „rozbít“ kilometrové lány polí. Za pár let si cyklisti užijí stín a plody našeho sázení. Věřím, že i naši páteční dobrovolníci si někdy v budoucnu udělají výlet a podívají se na plody svého úsilí.
Volume 9 – Planting Fruit Trees Along the Bike Path
On Friday, October 24th, we met up for the ninth time with volunteers from Pure Storage in Ohrobec. We returned to the same spot where we planted 70 fruit trees together three years ago and continued extending the orchard along the bike path toward Dolní Břežany.A total of 28 volunteers gathered, and 44 new fruit trees (old varieties of apple and plum trees) were waiting for us. After a short welcome and thank-you speech from the mayor of Ohrobec, we got to work.
It was cold, windy, and occasionally rainy — the only one truly enjoying the weather was our four-legged helper Balu. Everyone else, whipped by wind and rain, was eager to finish as soon as possible and head to the local pub.
We wrapped up more than an hour ahead of schedule and hurried to the charming village pub “U Trojánků” to warm up, enjoy a delicious burger, and share some easygoing conversation.
So far, together with Pure Storage, we’ve planted 454 trees and 35 shrubs. Today’s planting once again brought trees back to the places where they’ve always belonged — breaking up endless stretches of open fields. In a few years, cyclists will be able to enjoy the shade and fruit of our efforts. And hopefully, our Friday volunteers will one day return to see the fruits of their work — quite literally.
